Walter Edwin Mason, 89, of Prosser died Oct. 10 at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane. Mr. Mason was born and raised in Prosser. He served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He worked at Valley Auto Parts in Prosser from 1953 to 1967, then as a buyer at Washington State University-Irrigated Agriculture Research and Extension Center in Prosser, retiring in 1989 after more than 20 years.
Survivors include his wife, Cora Nessly Mason of Prosser; a daughter, Carol Marx of Prosser; a son, Charles Mason of Whidbey Island; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Private family graveside inurnment, with full military honors, will be at 11 a.m. Oct. 26 in the Prosser Cemetery. An open house will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Oct. 26 at 928 Market St. in Prosser. Arrangements are by Prosser Funeral Home.
