YAKIMA, Wash. — A Hertz franchise will be closing its rental operation at the Yakima Air Terminal at the end of May.

It’s one of several locations that Pasco-based West One Automotive Group, which operates Hertz franchises in Washington and Oregon, will close at the end of the month.

A local customer service representative in Yakima confirmed it will close May 31.

The closure leaves the Yakima airport with just one car rental operation, Budget, inside the facility. Enterprise Rent-A-Car operates outside the airport.

The airport generates income from renting out terminal space and by taking a percentage of revenue generated by the car rental companies. In 2011, the Yakima airport generated nearly $115,000 from car rental revenue, including $15,000 in terminal rents from Hertz and Budget.

Perry Roper, vice president of rental operations for West One Automotive Group, declined to comment as the company plans to release a statement this morning.
