A Yakima firefighter suffered a minor injury when crews responded to a garage fire that lit up the 1400 block of McKinley Avenue Saturday morning.
The Yakima Fire Department got the call at 3:52 a.m., and by the time the first units arrived a few minutes later, flames had already spread through the detached garage into a camper adjacent to the building.
Five city fire crews responded and quickly put out the fire, said Battalion Chief Abel Castilleja.
One firefighter was treated and released from a city hospital for a minor leg injury, Castilleja said.
The garage, a vehicle parked inside and the camper suffered extensive damage, but no estimates were yet available.
Castilleja said the fire appeared to start in the camper and spread to the garage.
