SUNNYSIDE, Wash. — Cody Fernandez hit four 3-pointers, scored 25 points and had five assists and three steals to lead Sunnyside to a 59-56 victory over Moses Lake in CBBN boys basketball Saturday night.

A day after falling at Eisenhower, the Grizzlies regrouped and finished strong with a 20-point fourth quarter against the Chiefs, who beat Davis by 20 points on Friday.

Joel Ortega tallied nine of his 12 points in the final period as Sunnyside got its first win under new head coach Geoff La Brant.

Ortega had 11 rebounds while Marcus Sanchez had eight assists and six boards.

EASTMONT 61, DAVIS 53: At Davis, sophomore guard Brandon Porter scored 18 points and Kai Spencer hit a big 3-pointer with 1:47 left as the Wildcats handed Davis its second straight conference setback.

Junior Furman Wheeler paced Davis (2-2, 6-3) with 17 points. Sophomore Nick Navarro chipped in 13 points and Nikhil Lizotte had 11 points for the Pirates, who are off until Jan. 10.

Spencer’s trey followed Lizotte’s two free throws, which had cut the deficit to 54-51.
