Delsie R. (Albert) Selam, “Yay’stani,” 90, of Granger died in Toppenish on Saturday.
She was born in the community of Kaiser Butte, about 10 miles northwest of Goldendale. She was a member of the Yakama Nation and made traditional garments.
Survivors include three daughters, Doris Burkybile and Bernita Bennett, both of Toppenish, and Mardell Luke of White Swan; four sons, Lindsey Selam of White Swan, Lonnie Selam Sr. of Toppenish, and Sylvester Selam and Vincent Selam, both of Granger; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
A dressing service will be at 9 a.m. today at the Toppenish Longhouse, with overnight services today and Monday, followed by interment at 8 a.m. Tuesday at Petes Cemetery near Mabton. Arrangements are by Colonial Funeral Home of Toppenish.
