Mildred Carlson Nordberg Gerhardt went home to be with her Savior May 29th, 2013 with her family at her bedside. She lived 98 years, 8 months, & 11 days.

She was born in Ft. Dodge, Iowa on 9/18/1914, the 5th of 9 children, to Carl & Eleanor Carlson. Mildred graduated from Yakima H.S. & attended nursing school in Yakima. She graduated from N.W. Bible Institute in 1939 with a major in Biblical Studies. She was married to Herbert Ernest Nordberg on 10/13/1940 & they lived together in Yakima, WA until he passed away on 9/10/1951. She raised their 4 children on a farm in Selah, WA, until moving to the Seattle area in 1963 where she earned her LPN, after which she worked as a nurse at Kings Gardens - now Crista Ministries. Mildred married longtime family friend Otto Gerhardt on 11/18/72. They made their home in Olympia, WA. Otto preceded her in death on 5/11/1992. In 2007 she returned to Crista Senior Community, where she spent the remainder of her days among many former acquaintances.

Mildred is survived by her four children: Arlan Nordberg of Westport, WA; Marvin (Lois) Nordberg of Broken Arrow, OK; Keith (Joyce) Nordberg of Federal Way, WA; & Karen (Ken) Oliver of Lynnwood, WA. She is also survived by her late husband Otto’s three children: Gerald (Sylvia) Gerhardt of Bothell, WA; Paul (Bernadette) Gerhardt of Vancouver, WA; & Roger (Serene) Gerhardt of Paulsbo, WA. She had ten grandchildren & 20 great-grandchildren. She was also Grandma to Otto’s 7 grandchildren & 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held at King’s Chapel at Crista Ministires on June 2, 2013 & Mills & Mills Funeral Home in Tumwater, WA on June 3, 2013.
