Benny “Ben” Christie, 65, of Yakima died Thursday.
He was born in Yakima. He served with the Army in Vietnam. Then he worked at his father’s business, Christie’s Garage. He also lived in Puyallup. When he returned to Yakima, he purchased the garage and ran it for 30 years. He was also an automotive instructor at Perry Technical Institute and was head of the Yakima Valley Community College automotive program until retiring in 2012.
Survivors include his wife, Diana Christie of Yakima; two sons, Adam Christie of Yakima and Micah Christie of Ulan Bator, Mongolia; two brothers, Ronald Christie of Kuna, Idaho, and Roger Christie of Federal Way; and a sister, Willa Godinez of Tecoluta, Mexico.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at West Valley Church of the Nazarene.
