RICHLAND — Davis twins Erica and Megumi DeMond capped their prep tennis careers Saturday by matching their seventh-place finish of two years ago at the Class 4A state tournament.

The DeMonds fell to Skyview’s Kristina Metz and Macy Ballew 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) in the medal round at Richland High School.

It was the third consecutive trip to the state tournament for the sisters. They fell just a match short of the medal round at last year’s tournament.

“It’s kind of an end of an era.” said Pirates coach Eric Robbins, noting the numerous district, regional and invitational tournament titles the DeMonds claimed in their four years at Davis.

“They just about won every thing they could win,” he said.
