TOPPENISH, Wash. — Yakima County Sheriff’s deputies on Sunday recovered an unidentified body from a pond just outside Toppenish, a sheriff’s office report said.
The fully clothed body was found in a pond in the 100 block of Meyers Road southeast of Toppenish, after deputies learned of it about 1:30 p.m.
Gender, nationality and age of the deceased have not yet been determined. The sheriff’s office released the body to the county coroner for an autopsy. Coroner Jack Hawkins has not scheduled the autopsy yet, but said it will likely be on Tuesday or Wednesday.
The sheriff’s office release said there are no obvious signs of foul play. The body appeared to have been in the water for a long time, and had only become visible once the water level receded.
