YAKIMA — Prosecutors have charged a Mabton man with three counts of vehicular assault in connection with a crash Saturday that put several people in the hospital.

Vicente Zuniga-Torres, 33, is accused by the Washington State Patrol of being either intoxicated or driving recklessly when his BMW rear-ended a Toyota Camry on State Route 22 just north of Toppenish.

The collision pushed the Camry into an oncoming minivan. Six people were injured, three seriously, the State Patrol said.

Zuniga, who allegedly gave a false name after his arrest, is being held in the Yakima County jail on $50,000 bail in connection with the crash and a no-bail immigration detainer.
