Albert L. Hickman, 86, of Richland died Sunday. Mr. Hickman was born in Walla Walla and served in the Army. In 1959, he moved to Pasco, where he owned and operated Hawthorne House in Kennewick. In 1965, he built, owned and operated Heather House in Richland. Then in 1978, he was a co-founder of Cypress Gardens School, which later became Country Haven Academy in Pasco.

Survivors include his wife, Millie (Kurtz) Hickman of Pasco; five children, Sherri Jo Gerking of Auburn, Calif., Mitzi Lundberg of Richland, Albert Hickman of Pasco, Richard Kurtz of Walla Walla and Kathie Heydt of Chattanooga, Tenn.; 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside. Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 15 at Riverview Heights Cemetery in Kennewick. A celebration of life will be at 3 p.m. Feb. 16 at Riverview Seventh-day Adventist Church in Pasco.
