— The McAllister Museum of Aviation will kick off a series of Saturday aircraft showcases this weekend with the Glasair Sportsman 2+2, billed as “arguably the most versatile kit aircraft on the market.”

The plane, owned by Dennis and Kathy Franz of Selah, will be showcased at 11 a.m. at the museum, 2008 S. 16th Ave. That will include a flight demonstration, an informational talk and opportunity for spectators to get close to the plane and ask questions.

The Sportsman 2+2 is noteworthy for its ability to have its wings folded back for ease of transport on trailers. It can carry two adults and two children and is powered by a 195 horsepower engine.

The museum will host similar showcases Aug. 9, 16, 23 and 30 with arrangements for subsequent dates in the works. Admission is free, but the nonprofit museum encourages donations. For information, visit www.mcallistermuseum.org or call 509-457-4933.
