Richard B. Thompson, 87, of Yakima died Sunday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Mr. Thompson was born in Fresno, Calif. He was a fisheries biologist, primarily working in the Seattle area, for many years.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathie Kirsch of Everett and Teresa Foley of Anchorage, Alaska; a son, Calvin Thompson of Yakima; three stepchildren, David Willard of Monroe, Sharon Jablinske of Lake Stevens and Jean Blair of Snohomish; a sister, Mildred Williams of Ukiah, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Canyon River Ranch (along the Yakima River, halfway between Ellensburg and Yakima).
