Central Washington’s Stan Langlow and Mike Nelson have received preseason All-America acclaim from Beyond Sports Network Division II.

Langlow, a senior safety who will wear jersey No. 44 this season, was listed as a first-team All-American at linebacker, a position he played some last year. Last spring the 6-foot-3, 216-pound Langlow was selected as the sixth Central player to wear No. 44, which is symbolic of exceptional team leadership on and off the field.

The Curtis High School product was last fall named the GNAC’s defensive player of the year for his outstanding play at both linebacker and safety. CWU head coach Blaine Bennett has said Langlow will play exclusively at safety this season.

Nelson, a senior from Mount Si, is a 6-4, 312-pound offensive tackle who was named to the third team.

Central, the defending conference champion, opens its season at home on Sept. 7 against Texas A&M-Kingsville.
