Richard Vernon Swanson, 42, of Seattle died Tuesday in Lincoln City, Ore., while walking along U.S. Highway 101, during a fundraising journey to Brazil for the 2014 World Cup. Mr. Swanson was born in Yakima. He worked as a private investigator for many years before changing careers and becoming a graphic designer.
Survivors include two sons, Devin Swanson of Vancouver, Wash., and Raven Swanson of Dublin, Ohio; his parents, Mary Ann Roblee and Thomas Roblee of Yakima; and his grandmothers, Theresa Skeen of Yakima and Joanna Roblee of Great Valley, N.Y.
Services are pending. Arrangements are by Bateman Funeral Home of Lincoln City.
