SPOKANE - Jaime Jeannette Hagarty, 37, of Richland, WA passed on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane due to complications of MS. Jaime was born in Spokane on July 18, 1976 to Donald and Judy (Buchanan) Hagarty. She was raised in the Yakima Valley attending St. Joseph School in Sunnyside, Toppenish Middle School, Selah High School and Immaculata High School in Spokane.
After her marriage to Justin Clark in 1997 she moved to Salt Lake City. She began working at the University Of Utah School Of Medicine in the Pediatric Nephrology Clinic.
While working at the University, she began taking classes at both the University of Utah and the Latter-day Saints School of Business. She graduated in 2005 with degrees in Accounting, Business Administration and Internet Marketing. Jaime was also named Most Inspirational Student of her graduating class.
During her last year of college, she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Her doctor suggested that she keep a journal of her experience with MS so she created an internet blog. She wrote about anything and everything concerning MS. Jaime developed a large worldwide following with links to other MS bloggers. She had links to every medication and treatment approved for MS. At one point she was named the Top Health Blog and was rated as the 3rd best place on the internet for MS information. She was contacted by Rutgers University School of Medicine and was told that her blog had become part of their curriculum so medical students could learn about MS from a patients perspective. Her MS became very aggressive and she went through every medication and treatment available. In September 2009, she was one of twelve people selected for a stem cell transplant clinical trial being conducted by the University of Washington and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. Three other people qualified for the transplant program after reading about it on her blog. She became active in the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and was on the MS Walk committee for the Tri-Cities for two years. Even though her blog has been inactive for about two years, it can still be found at http://mymsjournal.blogspot.com.
Jaime loved being with her family and was the center of her immediate family. She was the glue that held everyone together. She had grace, courage and gave inspiration to others. She was a remarkable person and lived life to the fullest. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her parents, Don and Judy Hagarty of Kennewick, husband Justin, son Nathan and sister Katie, all of Richland, maternal grandmother, Anna Burns of Pasco; also numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
