Linda “Darlene” Merry, a lifelong resident of Sunnyside, WA went to be in the arms of her Savior on Tuesday, March 26th, 2013 at the young age of 57. Darlene was born January 20th, 1956 in Sunnyside to Billy and LaVeta (Rogers) Anderson.

On February 14th, 1976 she married the love of her life, Vaughn Q. Merry Sr., at the home where she grew up and later raised a family of her own. Darlene was a loving mother to eight wonderful children and a devoted wife for thirty-seven years.

Darlene was a dedicated and hardworking employee of the Daily Sun News for many years, as well as a devoted Avon Representative. Her loyalty and strong work ethics were an inspiration to those around her. She was a hardy woman who wasn’t afraid to get her hands dirty and always finished whatever she started.

She was a very generous and loving woman, never afraid to lend a helping hand. Her life revolved around her family and friends, she enjoyed playing cards and board games, listening to music or just spending time with those closest to her heart. Darlene was an enthusiastic fan of Elvis Presley and a passionate collector of his memorabilia.

Darlene is survived by her husband Vaughn Q. Merry Sr., children Christopher (Theresa) M. Merry of Union Gap, Vaughn (Jennifer) Q. Merry Jr. of Sunnyside, Tina (Matthew) M. Carter of Yakima, Timothy (Brigitta) A. Merry of Bellville, IL, Jolene M. Merry of Sunnyside, and Joseph L. Merry of Bellville, IL, grandchildren Kyle, Trever, Tatum, Nathaniel, Samantha, Elizabeth, Jacob, Jayden, Timothy Jr., Emily, Bryce, and Jane. She is also survived by her sister Doris Willy, brother Darrell Anderson, sister Debra Anderson, sister Denise Willy, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Billy and LaVeta (Rogers) Anderson, brother Earl D. Anderson, and her children Thomas W. Merry and Kimberly J. Merry.

Darlene gave so much to those around her and will be sincerely missed by family and friends; she will live on in our memories and always in our hearts.

Mom, our hearts were broken to see you go and with time they will mend knowing that your suffering has ended and that you have been reunited with our brother and sister and one day we will all be together once again.

Viewing and visitation will be Thursday, April 4, 2013 from 12-8 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sunnyside, WA. Funeral Service will be held Friday, April 5, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside with burial to follow at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside, WA.
