Benjamin Raymond Brookshire, 83, of Yakima died Wednesday at Cottage in the Meadow. Mr. Brookshire was born in Bingen. He was a cannery worker most of his life. He also worked in the tulip gardens in Puyallup and at Grand Coulee Dam.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Brookshire; two daughters, Debbie Nave and Bonnie Assink, both of Yakima; three stepdaughters, Janet Powell and Connie Kurbitz of Yakima and Nancy Graf of Selah; an adopted daughter, Fran Beavers of Washougal; two sisters, Jeanette Braley of Wenatchee and Betty Barker of Puyallup; a brother, Bob Brookshire of Roy; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Keith and Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel, Yakima. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, also at Keith and Keith. Interment will be in West Hills Memorial Park.
