Richard Cordell Thomas, 81, of Portland died Sunday. Mr. Thomas was born in Bend, Ore., and lived in Yakima for much of his childhood. He worked as a civil engineer and lived in many places throughout the Northwest. His final years of employment were spent in Anchorage, Alaska. He retired to Tok, Alaska, prior to moving to Battle Ground.

Survivors include four children, Mary Carol Ojala of Beaverton, Ore., Cynthia Thomas of Portland, Howard Thomas of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Patricia Vanderhyde of Aurora, Colo.; a sister, Betty Rieker of Centralia; two brothers, Ron Thomas of Fair Oaks, Calif., and Roy Thomas of Bozeman, Mont.; and 13 grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Autumn Funerals, Cremation and Burial.
