1918 - 2013

LACONNER - Joseph A. Roper passed away peacefully at his home in LaConner, Washington.

Born January 1, 1918, in New York City, New York to Joseph and Caroline (Seidl) Roper, he grew up in New York City and was a 1940 graduate of Fordham University.

After college Joe served in the United States Marine Corps, during World War II in the South Pacific. He retired from the reserves as a Major.

Joe retired in 1981, in Yakima, WA, from Seattle First National Bank after 32 years. He was also a member of several service organizations.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Marian, his sons Michael J. (Alice) Roper, Yakima, Kurt A. Roper, Seattle, and daughters Linda (Fred) Alexander, Moxee, and Kristine Abshire, Wasilla, AK. He is also survived by his granddaughters Michelle (Robert) Policicchio, Eugene, OR, Gina (Todd) Harding, Yakima, Cori (Skeet) Bivins, Moxee and Kati (Jason) Redding, Moses Lake, and seven great grandchildren.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Carrie Roper and his son Craig.
