A.D. Wilson, 79, longtime resident of Selah, passed away on September 5, 2013. A.D. was born on January 18, 1934 in Sylamore, Arkansas to W.P. and Leona (Bunch) Wilson. He spent his younger years in Texas and moved to Washington in 1946. He graduated from Selah High School in 1952. He attended Yakima Valley Junior College for two years and then served two years in the U.S. Army. He married Glennis Ruddell on December 26, 1959 in Selah. He was a meat cutter in Seattle for Safeway until 1964. Upon returning to Selah, he raised cattle while working at the Naches Selah Irrigation District for 40 years. He owned and operated Wilson Custom Meats for 26 of those years. A.D. enjoyed working hard and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was very proud of his family and looked forward to spending time with them, especially on their yearly vacation to Twin Lakes, WA. He spent many an hour fishing on the lake with his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A.D. is survived by his wife, Glennis; daughter Carrie Armstrong and her husband Chris and their children Austin and Taylor; his daughter Julie Heckerman and her husband Neil and their children Harrison and Holly. A.D. is also survived by his brothers, Doyle (Carolyn) Wilson of Wapato, Barney (Yvonne) Wilson of Allyn, WA and Ira (Alice) Wilson of Ormand Beach, FL, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother William Eugene Wilson and sisters Alene Wishert and Inez Guthman.
Memorial Services will be held at Selah United Methodist Church at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 13, 2013. Memorials may be made to Seattle Children’s Hospital, P.O. Box 5371, Seattle, WA 98145-5020.
