NACHES - David Allen Wilbanks was born September 7, 1953 in Yakima to James & Neville Wilbanks of Gleed. David passed away at his Naches residence on July 27, 2013 with his family by his side.
Dave grew up in Gleed. He attended and graduated from Naches High School in 1972. He went to Y.V.C.C. for two years. In 1975 he worked for Boise Cascade on the Portable Mill in Ellensburg and White Swan for many years. Dave then worked at the Yakima Mill for thirty-one years until it closed. In 2010 he went back to college to earn his Mechanic Degree and went on to work for Haney Trucking line as their truck mechanic. He loved big trucks.
He was a great drummer. Even though Dave was left handed he could play “Wipe-Out” with one stick.
Dave married Laura J. “Sue” Utter in 1976. He bought their home in Naches for their wedding. Dave loved to be home, he was happy in his chair with a cold beer and a good TV show or a car race.
He was preceded in death by his father, James T. Wilbanks Sr.; both sets of grandparents; one brother, Bill Wilbanks and his little angel, granddaughter, Charlotte Dobbs.
Dave is survived by his mother, Neville Wilbanks; his loving wife, Laura “Sue” Wilbanks of Naches; daughter, Wendy M. and her husband SSGG Nathan Dobbs of Jackville, NC; son, Adam D. and his wife Misty Wilbanks of Yakima; six grandkids, Victoria Wilbanks, Loralei Dobbs, Adam Wilbanks Jr. David Dobbs, Conner & Levi Wilbanks; brothers, Jim Wilbanks Jr. of Yakima, Randy & Marilyn Wilbanks of Quartzsite, AZ and Lindsey & Shelia Wilbanks of Terrace Heights; sisters, Kathy & Less Lyczewski of Selah and Beth Wilbanks of Yakima. Dave had many nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters- & brothers-in-law.
Dave was a great man that everyone just loved when you got to know him. PaPa Dave put up a good fight against his cancer. Dave keep his smile all the way.
