YAKIMA, Wash. — Talk about freezer burn.

Yakima County sheriff’s deputies Wednesday had the unenviable task of looking into a report of a foul odor emanating from a freezer that appeared to contain a body.

The report came from Poor Boys Wrecking, which has a recycling operation at its yard on Powerhouse Road west of Yakima.

In addition to the smell, deputies were also told that when the freezer was opened, whatever was inside was covered with lime. Prior to it being opened, the freezer had been wrapped in plastic and taped shut.

An “excavation” investigation subsequently revealed there was indeed a body inside — a deer carcass.

As Homer Simpson might say, “Doe!” The freezer was released backed to Poor Boys.
