YAKIMA, Wash. — Investigators with the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office will today be checking out the site of a reported meth lab in a cave just east of Yakima.

When the site was discovered this weekend it was initially reported to be at Yakima Sportsman State Park.

But when contacted by the Yakima Herald-Republic, a calltaker at the 247-acre state park explained the case had been turned over to the Sheriff’s Office because the lab was actually on private property.

Sportsman State Park is on the east side of the Yakima River and south of State Route 24.
