YAKIMA — The average price for gasoline in the Yakima area fell to $3.20 over the past week, a decline of 3.8 cents, according to GasBuddy.com.

That was better than the national average of $3.31 over the same period, for an increase of 4.5 cents.

The Yakima average is 14.5 cents lower than a year ago and 10.9 cents lower than a month ago, GasBuddy.com reported. The national average is 6.7 cents lower than a year ago and has increased 4.5 cents from a month ago.

GasBuddy.com, which tracks 91 gas stations in the Yakima area, said the national increase was apparently tied to a production slowdown as refineries start annual maintenance.
