One killed in Ellensburg house fire
ELLENSBURG — A man is dead after fire ripped through an older double-wide mobile home Thursday evening, according to Kittitas Valley Fire & Rescue.
The fire was reported shortly after 7 p.m. at 905 W. Cascade Court in the Hillcrest Mobile Home Park.
When the first of about 30 firefighters arrived, they found the home was fully involved in flames that had already burned through the walls and windows at the rear of the home, according to a news release issued by the fire agency.
Firefighters entered through the front door, immediately finding the man, according to the release.
The man, who authorities are not identifying until they can notify next of kin, was described as being at least 60 years old.
A second person living at the home is being assisted by the Red Cross, but was not inside the home when the fire started, the agency said.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is now under way by KVFR, Ellensburg police and the Kittitas County Fire Marshal. The home is considered a total loss.
