YAKIMA, Wash. — Yakima County has canceled a public meeting scheduled for Wednesday to review a flood threat reduction proposal on Ahtanum Creek in the area of 42nd Avenue and Emma Lane.

The meeting is being postponed to allow the Federal Emergency Management Agency more time to analyze the proposal’s impact downstream.

The meeting likely will be rescheduled in early February, according to a county announcement.

The flood reduction proposal includes a new, larger bridge over Ahtanum Creek at 42nd Avenue and two overflow channels to safely carry high water away from the creek.
