YAKIMA, Wash. — A Stage 2 burn ban has been called across Yakima County.
The Yakima Regional Clean Air Agency declared the ban Monday morning, saying that air quality levels were at unhealthy levels due to poor ventilation and dispersion and a low-level weather inversion.
Those conditions are expected to continue into at least Wednesday.
During a Stage 2 ban, use of fireplaces, wood stoves or fireplace inserts is prohibited unless it is the only means of heating the home. No outdoor burning is allowed.
Burning on the Yakama Nation reservation is separately regulated by the federal Environmental Protection Agency.
