SUNNYSIDE, Wash. — Four suspects in a burglary here led police on a high-speed chase all the way to Toppenish before they crashed into a building Wednesday, police said.
About 11 a.m., Sunnyside officers began investigating a report of a burglary in the 1400 block of Eighth Street. A neighbor provided a description of the vehicle, including a license plate number, according to a news release from Sunnyside police Sgt. Joey Glossen.
While officers investigated, Deputy Chief Phil Schenck spotted the vehicle outside the city limits, tried to pull it over and then chased it at speeds up to 90 miles per hour, the release said.
The driver crashed into a building when he reached Toppenish and got out to run along with three other male suspects inside, the release said.
Schenck and other officers from nearby agencies found the suspects — one 21-year-old man and three boys — and arrested them, the release said. Officers found all the items from the Eighth Street burglary, though some were damaged from the collision and a subsequent fire in the vehicle, the release said.
