ELLENSBURG – A 51-year-old Alaska man died Wednesday morning when he lost control of his pickup on Interstate 90, a Washington State Patrol news release said.

Jeffrey D. Lafortune of Anchorage was driving a 1997 Toyota pickup west on the highway went it left the roadway about 6:40 a.m., the report said.

Lafortune was thrown from the truck when it rolled over. He was pronounced dead at Kittitas Valley Community Hospital, according to the patrol.

The State Patrol blamed the accident — which occurred about 12 miles west of Ellensburg — on driving too fast for conditions. Neither drugs nor alcohol are suspected of playing a role in the accident.
