YAKIMA,Wash. — A 31-year-old man was arrested Saturday night on suspicion of attempted murder after his father was stabbed in the neck and arm.

The father was taken to Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center with what police said was a life-threatening neck wound. Hospital staff said he went into surgery Saturday night but was discharged to his home Sunday evening.

A police press release said officers were called at 5:15 p.m. to a home in the 500 block of North 80th Avenue, where a man reportedly had been attacked by his son with a Buck knife. Police found the son hiding in the backyard, and he was taken into custody without incident.

The son was booked into the Yakima County jail late Saturday.
