ELLENSBURG, Wash. — The bookkeeper for a local paint store has been arrested on accusations she embezzled more than $375,000 from her company.

The suspect, a 34-year-old Ellensburg woman, had been pilfering the accounts of Premier Paint & Floor Covering on a weekly basis since September 2009, according to the Ellensburg Police Department.

In a news release, police said the suspect was arrested Wednesday and booked into the Kittitas County Corrections Center on suspicion of first-degree theft.

During a search of her residence earlier this month, investigators seized cash and numerous items believed to have been purchased with embezzled money, according to the news release.

The Yakima Herald-Republic is withholding her name because she has not been formally charged by prosecutors.
