YAKIMA — Travelers renting cars at the Yakima Air Terminal may have noticed some changes.
Hertz has returned to the airport. Pasco-based West One Automotive Group shut down its Hertz franchise in May. Hertz, however, decided to return as a corporate-owned facility, which opened a few weeks ago.
“The (Yakima) area is big,” said Tyson Anyan, Seattle-based area manager for Hertz. “We needed a presence there.”
Hertz reopened at a new location inside the airport. It’s now at the counter next to Alaska Airlines, said interim airport manager Rob Peterson. Meanwhile, Avis, which shared a counter with Budget near the airport’s baggage area, is at the former Hertz counter (Avis and Budget are owned by the same parent company).
“It’s more of a professional look,” Peterson said about the decision to spread out the airport’s rental car area.
