— Authorities say surveillance video was the downfall of a Cle Elum man suspected in numerous burglaries of storage units in the east Cle Elum area.

The 58-year-old suspect was arrested Wednesday by Kittitas County sheriff’s deputies.

Deputies with the agency’s Pro-Act unit set up cameras that recorded the man, leading to his identification as the suspect, Commander Darren Higashiyama said in a news release issued Friday morning.

A separate camera system set up by the owners of a previously burglarized cabin also tied the suspect to an incident at that location, according to the news release.

Deputies served a search warrant Thursday on the suspect’s vehicles and found burglary tools and suspected stolen property, authorities said.

Investigators are still working to identify the owners of the recovered property.
