OLYMPIA — The state Department of Fish and Wildlife is seeking grant applications from citizens, community groups and local governments to fund projects that will benefit fish and wildlife.
The Aquatic Land Enhancement Account has $258,000 available for 2014 projects such as habitat restoration, public education, and research, according to the DFW news release. The money is intended to support volunteer efforts and paying for project costs but not salaries.
In 2013, the city of Yakima received $56,000 from the account to fund restoration efforts that are part of the Yakima River floodplain expansion. Applications will be accepted starting Dec 1. More information is available on the DFW website at wdfw.wa.gov/grants/alea/
