ENUMCLAW, Wash. — The King County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Thursday the identity of a drowning victim as Zachary Kuhn, a 16-year-old from Naches.
The teenager died Wednesday at Auburn Medical Center after he was pulled unconscious from Deep Lake in Nolte State Park.
KIRO-TV reported the teenager was part of a church group from Yakima that was attending the annual Creation Festival at the Enumclaw Expo Center.
According to KIRO, witnesses called for help Wednesday after seeing the boy struggling in the water and then slip under the surface.
Divers pulled him out and medics began CPR as he was rushed to the hospital. He was under for at least 45 minutes before the divers found him in 50 feet of water.
On the teenager’s Facebook page, a friend posted, “Prayers to the Kuhn family and everyone that was close to Zachary.”
