SUNNYSIDE, Wash. — A 22-year-old Grandview man was arrested Saturday night after police said he attempted to outrun them in his car.
Police said the man will face charges of eluding, driving while intoxicated and driving without a license.
The incident began shortly after 11 p.m., when a Sunnyside patrol officer clocked a car traveling at 84 mph on section of Outlook Road, where the speed limit is 50 mph, Sunnyside police said in a news release issued Sunday.
The officer activated his lights and siren, but the driver refused to stop. The car, a 2005 Nissan Sentra, eventually skidded into a mailbox on Snipes Canal. The driver, the car’s only occupant, was not injured and has been booked into the Sunnyside city jail.
