YAKIMA, Wash. — A 25-year-old man was hospitalized in serious condition Tuesday after being struck by a shotgun blast outside a Parker area home the night before.
Jaime Padilla was smoking in the driveway of a friend’s home in the 1600 block of Thorp Road about 8:40 p.m. when a car pulled up and words were exchanged, according to a news release issued by the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office.
A passenger then got out of the car and shot Padilla with a sawed-off shotgun, the release said.
Padilla suffered wounds to the head and upper body and was taken to Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center, and later transferred to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center. Deputies said they had no description of the suspects or the car, which they said fled the shooting scene at a high rate of speed.
