ELLENSBURG, Wash. — An Ellensburg woman reported missing Tuesday night was found injured after she fell down a steep embankment in the Manastash Ridge area, Kittitas County authorities said Wednesday.

Melanie Swanson, 19, left the trail after her dog ran off, according to the statement. Rescuers found her drifting in and out of consciousness. She was carried from the scene and then taken by ambulance to KVH Hospital in Ellensburg for further treatment.

The hospital listed her in satisfactory condition Wednesday afternoon.

The search started about 9 p.m. along the Westberg Trail and involved sheriff’s deputies, emergency medical workers and numerous civilians, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. Fellow hikers reported her missing.
