Unofficial election returns showed U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera-Beutler, R-Camas, winning re-election in the 3rd Congressional District Tuesday night.

Herrera-Beutler was leading 59 percent (119,425 votes) to 41 percent (82,509) for her Democratic challenger, Jon Haugen, an airline pilot from Vancouver.

Herrera-Beutler, 34, won her first term in 2010 against Democrat Denny Heck when both were vying to replace retiring U.S. Rep. Brian Baird. She is one of the youngest members of Congress.

The district was redrawn by the State Redistricting Commission this year to include all of Klickitat County, which was formerly in the 4th Congressional District. Part of Thurston County formerly in Herrera-Beutler’s district was moved to the new 10th Congressional District.
