YAKIMA, Wash. — As in past years, IHOP is giving away free pancakes for its National Pancake Day.

But now Yakima Valley diners will need to take a short road trip to Ellensburg for those free pancakes. As many of you may remember, the IHOP in Union Gap closed in November as the California-based restaurant chain phases out restaurants with the older high-pitched roof design.

And now it looks like Ellensburg will be the nearest IHOP for many Yakima Valley consumers.

IHOP spokesman Craig Hoffman said this afternoon that the company has no plans to reopen in Yakima anytime soon.
