YAKIMA — Many Yakima Valley Verizon Wireless customers will soon have access to a faster, fourth-generation cellular data network.
The cellular provider will debut the new network, known as 4G LTE, in the Yakima area on Thursday.
In a news release, Basking Ridge, N.J.-based Verizon claims its 4G LTE network will offer connection speeds 10 times faster than the third-generation network currently offered.
Since launching 4G LTE two years ago, Verizon Wireless has made the network available in nearly 500 markets nationwide. Areas included in this launch are Yakima, Union Gap, Selah and Moxee.
Verizon Wireless is the second carrier to launch a 4G LTE network in the Yakima Valley. U.S. Cellular debuted its 4G LTE network in November.
