YAKIMA, Wash. — Well, it’s been a busy holiday season. Many of you will start the cycle on Wednesday when you buy discounted gift wrap, cards and other supplies for the 2013 holiday season.
But for the most part, the holiday shopping season is behind me — check out some of the observations I made about this year’s shopping activity.
Here are a few other highlights:
• The holiday shopping season kicked off with earlier openings on Thanksgiving night.
• Can those holiday scents influence you to spend more? The dean of the Washington State University’s college of business says yes.
• Yakima’s Shipping Shop recommends sending gifts early, but there were still plenty of procrastinators.
So with that, I’ll be stepping away from this blog for the rest of 2012.
My colleagues will update this blog if any news happens while I’m away. Also be sure to check out the upcoming Reporter’s Notebook column on Monday, when I look back at the top 10 retail and restaurant stories for 2012.
Until then, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
