YAKIMA — A 23-year-old Yakima woman was injured in a 2 a.m. drive-by shooting Sunday morning but her injuries are not life threatening, Yakima police officials said in a news release.

Police say they responded to a call from a residence in the 400 block of South Seventh Street, where they found the woman bleeding from gunshot wounds. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Police said the victim did not appear to be gang related but that family members said a family member who once lived at the local was affiliated with the Sureno gang.

Police said no vehicle was heard but that several shots were fired from the street side into the front of the residence. Numerous casings were found in the street and bullets were retrieved from the house structure.

No suspects have been identified. The gang unit and detectives will continue the investigation.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Yakima Police Department.
