SELAH — Three young men were injured, one of them seriously, when the SUV they were in rolled and crashed about nine miles north of Selah early Sunday, the Washington State Patrol said.
One of the passengers, 22-year-old Joshua D. Blevins of Selah, was taken to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, then transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where staff Sunday said he was listed in serious condition.
The driver, 19-year-old Gage Van Wyk, and the other passenger, Justin T. Lee, 20, both of Yakima, were treated at Memorial Hospital and released.
Van Wyk and Lee were wearing seat belts, but Blevins was not, the State Patrol said.
A WSP news release said Van Wyk was southbound on North Wenas Road about 1:50 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve, went off the roadway and rolled near Fletcher Road. His 1999 Toyota 4Runner was totaled.
The State Patrol said drugs or alcohol were involved and that charges are pending.
