YAKIMA, Wash. — A suspect in last week’s shooting on Thorp Road, near Parker, was ordered held on bail of $250,000 while Yakima County prosecutors mull charges.
The suspect, a 21-year-old male, was arrested over the weekend and booked on suspicion of first-degree assault. Court records show a female suspect also was booked Monday.
The arrests were linked to a shooting last Tuesday in the 1600 block of Thorp Road, a rural area across the freeway from Parker.
Deputies said Jaime Padilla, 25, was smoking in the driveway of a friend’s home when a car pulled up and words were exchanged.
A passenger then got out of the car and shot Padilla with a sawed-off shotgun, deputies said.
Padilla suffered wounds to the head and upper body and was hospitalized in serious condition at Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center. The incident was believed to be gang-related.
