YAKIMA — A 53-year-old man was critically injured late Wednesday when he was struck by a hit-and-run driver while crossing a southeast Yakima street, police said.
James Dale Henderson was crossing near the intersection of South Third and Maple streets about 11 p.m. when he was struck, according to Yakima police.
The intersection does not have a marked crosswalk, police said.
The sedan — possibly dark blue or silver — was northbound on Third Street, police said.
Henderson was taken to a Yakima hospital and then transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment of life-threatening internal injuries, as well as broken bones in both legs and head injuries.
Traffic investigators have been assigned to the case.
Authorities ask anyone with information about the incident to call the police department as soon as possible at 509-575-6200.
