Get ready to party! The fifth annual Playdate Family Expo is Saturday, March 22, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Yakima Convention Center.

Come see dozens of local participating organizations, all of whom promise a fun time for kids — and parents. This year the Expo is a regular “three-ring circus:” One ring is devoted to science and technology, one to health and fitness and the third to fun!

This year Playdate Magazine and the Yakima Herald-Republic have invited Pacific Science Center to the event. The science center is bringing a 500-square-foot, hands-on exhibit, plus three 40-minute physics shows that POP with exciting demonstrations. Lids will strangely pop off cans, and electrified hair will stand completely on end!

Also new this year: Legos®! A Lego® expert will show kids about these amazing building blocks, including how they can be used in robotics. Families can also enjoy facepainting, arts and crafts and concessions.

The new Yakima Pippins baseball team, the Yakima Mavericks football team and the Yakima Youth Soccer Association will get kids busy, too. And just like Playdate Magazine, Family Expo will have its own “storytime,” courtesy of Yakima Valley Libraries.

Tickets are $5/adults and $1/kids and are available for purchase at the Yakima Herald-Republic (114 N. Fourth St.) starting March 7. Tickets are also available at the door to the event. The Yakima Convention Center is located at 10 N. 8th St. For information call 509-577-7736 or visit playdatemagazine.com/familyexpo.
