— A Yakima police SWAT team arrested two women at a North First Street motel Tuesday afternoon after a two-hour standoff.

One of the women, 29, is a suspect in an armed robbery the evening of June 8 at Elks Memorial Park on Hathaway Street in Yakima, said Sgt. Shawn Boyle of the Yakima Police Department.

Police were called to the Yakima Valley Inn about 3 p.m., after the victim of the robbery recognized a stolen car in the parking lot, Boyle said.

A male suspect in the robbery remains at large.

The incident ended when SWAT team members used a public address system and a nonlethal flash-bang grenade to stun the women, which allowed police to burst into the hotel room and arrest the two without further incident, Boyle said.

Items taken during the robbery included a car, money and personal items, police said.
