YAKIMA, Wash. — Investigators are looking into the cause of a fire that heavily damaged an unoccupied Terrace Heights home Wednesday. The fire was reported at 1 p.m. in the 2700 block of Butterfield Road, east of Yakima. Firefighters with the East Valley Fire Department had it under control within 30 minutes. Although a woman at the scene reported the fire, the one-story rambler did not appear to be occupied, and the power and gas had been shut off, East Valley fire Chief Mike Riel said. No injuries were reported, but damage to the building, the front yard and surrounding shrubs was significant.
